Song of Exile

What is this mess, this cuss, this fuss

what bombed the new year...once full of hopes and bliss

not a month through, the epidemic battle blew

and put everybody exile

lovers separated from others      shut the gate

quarantined patients hovered     fortune or                                             fate

and the wait prolongs…

with despair and sad old songs

what patience befits the desire to reunite

or the wish to fully recover

still       the wait prolongs

I miss you     that is all they feel

I miss you     that is all they say

I am hoping to see you again one day

now they knew

what they strive for and want to attain

human connection—sincere affection

they were nothing without it    hopeless   empty

and in pain of exile they grew

Dad, Hero

He's my father
my best friend
An Arabian blend

Don't bother
he's amazing
start gazing
he's a star

A radical
political
singular enthusiast
out of a bell jar
not a member of a party

No he's not
He's an individual
He hit the jack pot
It's his luck
he won a duck
fuck

He's a leader
a speeder
an exceed-er
he drives like crazy
although it's hazy
he naps while driving
his car on auto-pilot

He's an author
a teacher
sometimes preacher
an angle sent
in the form of a creature
a talker
Oh he's a lot much more
than just a walker

He's a savior
 a hero
my savior
my dad
my hero

COVID-19

The year is a mess, a cuss, a fuss
I cannot reach for you and thus
I long for nothing but you

I gazed at the stars and how they shined for you
They told me it's times like these I got to be patient--you have the flu

I miss you, that is all I feel
I miss you, that is all I say
I am hopeful to see you again one day

--

I am hopeful to see you again
singing, ringing, clinging, but until then
for you I will pray
and till then,

Stay safe

A Stranger in Heaven

Or hell?

Could this nature and beauty be heaven?
Or is this heat and struggle what's called hell?
Oh well
I am a stranger--could you tell?

I left my roots, forgetting them somewhere
Somewhere I call home--but define home
A feeling at which roots belong
at which blood blossoms best
and at which I hear my mother's song

Gracious grace, i'll be okay
I will pass and prosper at a pace
After all, I'm in a heavenly place
Or am I a stranger....
in hell?

Our World

Between the Earth and the sky
there stand you and I
without saying goodbye
let me tell how much I admire you     with tears in my eye

Between the noon and the moon
for us     there is enough room
complete and eternal
let us stay then     you and I

Between a garden and a mountain high
there will be just you and I
my favorite song to you I will sing
to show how a woman madly in love shall live     I will dance and I will swing

Between my mind and my soul
in pain have I struggled
to dismiss the world and keep only you     my all
let us stay then     you and I
